About

Nick’s Story
Nick Clare was born and raised in Hastings, Minnesota. On November 11, 2001, Nick was killed in a car accident near Great Falls, Montana. Nick was an avid cross country runner and skier on the Hastings High School teams from 1989-1996. He was a graduate of Hastings Senior High in 1996. Nick loved adventure and the outdoors, including running, skiing, fishing, hiking and hunting. He was a senior at Montana State University-Bozeman and was going to graduate in Construction Engineering. Nick was the president of the MSU Engineering Club (AGC), an active volunteer for Big Brothers Big Sisters, a member of Habitat for Humanity, and an organ donor.

Race History
The first Nick Clare Memorial Run was held in 2002 as a way to give tribute to the life of Nick Clare. Because it was so successful in benefiting the Hastings Community and the Hastings High School athletic programs, the run has continued. Contributions from the run go to the Nick Clare Foundation. Contributions have helped needy students participate in sports and receive scholarship money.

The run is also a fun community event that anyone can participate in. Many nice door prizes are donated by local merchants.
