It brightens nicely when pushed and would be a great horn for lead in a Big Band. The bore refers to the actual size of the tubing, measured at the point where you insert the mouthpiece. There is a reason why armies have used buglers for centuries. The sterling silver bells tend to play with more heft in the sound and take a lot of volume before breaking up. We loved it as kids; we also lost many of the pieces as kids.

This is the Slokar model 175, designed specifically to ease intonation and make partial slotting more stable. Earl Williams made custom trombones by hand from the late 1920s up until his passing in the early 1970s. It can support the tuba with an octave, the sound complements the horn's, the Euphonium can be used with a woodwind line to add strength, it can soften the trombone section, and I have even sometimes seen it share a flute part.

Counting up from middle A-440Hz, the top A is 440x2x2x2x2x2 = 14080Hz. (compared to 3520 Hz for top A on an acoustic piano) The bottom A is 440/2/2/2/2/2 = 14Hz, sounds like this and that is not even the lowest note.... As always, the requirments of the use dictate the materials. A geyer style horn has the change valve at the end of the valve cluster, as opposed to the "kruspe style" instrument which has the change valve at the top of the cluster.
